Dyno Run 02/15/01 - Larry D (AEM vs PHR)

Welp boys and girls the day has finally come and what I figured is exactly what happened..

here are the dyno chart of my PHR CAI vs the AEM CAI, all are SAE corrected..

** side note.. AFC made no increase with AEM

Here is one of the AEM CAI, vs PHR CAI, vs PHR CAI w/S-AFC..

Here is one of the AEM CAI vs PHR CAI w/S-AFC..

Here is one of the AEM CAI vs PHR CAI..

And Finally here is one of the PHR CAI vs PHR CAI w/S-AFC

Its quite obvious to me that the AEM makes more power than the PHR alone.. when you add the S-AFC to the PHR CAI it makes up most of the difference but the AEM still brings alot more torque into play..

Now for my opinion on the AEM vs PHR w/S-AFC

As you can see the PHR peaks out at more power with 168.4 vs the AEM with 167.4 but the AEM peaks out with more torque with 124.8 vs the 122.8 with the PHR..

the 2 dynos are extremely similar.. the only 2 things I really notice are exactly what Ive explained before

1) The AEM has alot more torque in the low rpm's than the PHR does.. It actually gained 11ft/lbs of torque over the phr at 3000rpms..

2) The PHR has a power surge at 6,000rpms. The AEM does not kick in nearly as harsh but as you can see at about 6500 it comes back up and surpasses the power the PHR is making..

other than these 2 things I think it is pretty much dead on with both intakes either way.. it would be a toss up :)

now onto more fun stuff..

I decided with all this talk about top speed going on I would take the car to rev limiter in 5th gear and see what we got going on.. Its actualy not as bad as most people would have suspected it to be..

As you can see, the top speed I hit was 140mph at 8300rpms in 5th gear.. so the next ? is how we get faster than that?? well the only thing I can think of is maybe we arent on a level road?? And ofcourse the speedo isnt 100% accurate.. Mine was showing close to 149 when it hit the limiter and registered 140.
